Public web sources (no account, no key)
Nothing — these are endpoints anyone may call: Wikipedia and Wikidata, Google News RSS, Reddit search, Bluesky, the Apple and Google app stores, the iTunes podcast index, Trustpilot, the platforms' own ad-transparency centers, Google Autocomplete, and the platforms' oEmbed endpoints. yt-dlp, an open-source CLI, reads YouTube and TikTok the same way. The free-sources round (2026-08) added two more to this same no-key list: GDELT DOC 2.0 (news mention volume with a tone score) and the archive.org Wayback Machine CDX API (the site's nearest snapshot to a year ago, plus its oldest snapshot).
The facts a reader needs
| What it unlocks | Everything below runs with no key at all, and always has. |
| When it is called | Only the public sources selected by the lane. Hosted levels include eleven free public sources; GDELT is an explicit optional source parked in defaults because this network has been refused. |
| Cost basis | $0 incremental vendor fee for public-source calls. Each instrumented HTTP attempt has a zero-dollar receipt, including empty/error responses and follow-up calls; missing historical request accounting remains unknown. |
| Environment | No key. These endpoints are public. |
| Bring your own key | Not on this deployment. |
The customer's own site and stylesheets (read directly, no vendor), and the platform CDNs a captured image is mirrored from — content belonging to a capture already paid for, not a supplier we hold an account with.
Endpoints we call
| Endpoint | Why we call it |
|---|---|
Wikipedia · Wikidata | Identity, founding date, employee-count claims. |
Google News RSS | Recent coverage. |
reddit.com/search.json | Where you come up on Reddit. |
The Bluesky public API | Bluesky presence. |
iTunes Search · App Store · Google Play | Podcasts and app listings. |
Trustpilot | The public rating. |
Google Autocomplete | What people type after your name. |
oEmbed endpoints · yt-dlp | Backfilling post metadata the platforms publish freely. |
GDELT DOC 2.0 (doc/doc, mode=ToneChart) | News mention volume WITH a tone score — the free-sources round's answer to 'is press coverage positive right now'. |
archive.org Wayback Machine CDX API | The site's nearest snapshot to a year ago, plus its oldest — 'your homepage, then and now'. |
www.sec.gov/files/company_tickers.json | A CIK lookup against SEC's own static registrant roster — a small 'public filings' line for the minority of report subjects that are public companies. |
efts.sec.gov full-text search | Only when no current company name matches: which annual reports name your domain, so a renamed filer is still found under the name it filed as. |
crt.sh certificate-transparency log search | Subdomains visible in public TLS certificate logs — 'the web knows these subdomains of yours', even the ones nobody meant to publish. |
api.certspotter.com issuances | The same certificate question, asked without a key, only when crt.sh fails twice. |
Algolia Hacker News Search API | Whether the brand has ever been the subject of an HN submission, and how the community reacted — a tech/SaaS-subset signal. |
